**This contains a SPOILER from SmackDown this week.**

It has been reported through various news outlets and WWE's official Twitter account, that WWE Superstar Randy Orton was injured tonight at the WWE SmackDown tapings.

What is said to have happened is that during the match he was in with Wade Barrett, Orton somehow landed awkwardly and hurt his back. There is literally no word on how severe things are, but as of now, he has been pulled from all upcoming live events and will probably be checked out in detail within the next few days.

It's believed to be a disc that he hurt, but that cannot be confirmed.

What took place was Wade Barrett and Orton participating in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. They went all over the arena and even fought near an elevator. The show ended when Orton was thrown down a set of stairs. The last thing seen was Orton in extreme pain.

Now, usually WWE's Twitter account does not report anything regarding an injury on a taping unless it's a legit injury. They do kayfabe one's when they want to sell them on the day of a show. But with this being Tuesday, a full three days before SmackDown is broadcast in America, this seems highly legit to me.

Orton has been the face of SmackDown since the WWE draft this past year. Once Edge retired, they needed a big-time face to come up and be THE MAN on that show. With no Orton, there is a huge chance people such as Daniel Bryan will get a major push considering there is no one to take the top face spot except people such as Sheamus and Bryan.

Christian, who some believe will turn face upon his return, is still scheduled to be out a while longer.

Maybe the man behind the 1/2/12 promos will move over to SmackDown as its top face for a little while. Who knows?

As of now, there is no word on how long Orton will be out, if at all. But what we do know is that Orton is hurt, it is his back that's messed up and WWE really cannot lose Orton this close to WrestleMania time for darn sure!
