We’re well into this NBA season, and All-Star weekend is less than two weeks away now. The game is on the same night as the Oscars, and aficionados of both basketball and film will have a big choice to make two Sundays from now.

The season seems to be traveling at light speed. Injuries have dominated the conversation for much of that time.

However, there are still a few notable players available in free agency thanks to the Chinese League’s lack of opt-out clauses for locked-out NBA stars. Wilson Chandler and J.R. Smith are coveted in the free-agency market. Gilbert Arenas is not.

Linsanity has overtaken the league and raised a lot of questions for Baron Davis’ future. Derrick Rose’s 23-year-old back is behaving like that of an old man and is putting the Bulls’ in a precarious position. The Dwight Howard trade saga continues to be front and center for the Magic as they prepare to host All-Star weekend.

Here is my rundown of the top stories in news, trade and free agency.
