I have absolutely no idea what WWE is trying to do.

For those of you who haven't been watching (and judging by the ratings, not many people are), Zack Ryder has become Kane's personal punching bag for the past several weeks.  Kane has "broken" Ryder's back, put him in a wheelchair and then shoved that wheelchair off the entrance stage.

It's gotten to the point where you almost expect Kane to lock Ryder in a car's trunk, light the car on fire, push the fiery car off a cliff, drop a boulder on top of the car once it lands, then drop a bomb on top of all the wreckage.

However, something strange and interesting happened last Monday on Raw, something that confused many people watching, especially me.

While Zack Ryder was getting loaded into an ambulance for the 60th time this month, his onscreen girlfriend, Eve, leaped out of the ambulance and kissed John Cena, making Zack Ryder look like a total goof.  Why?

As the storyline continues this week, Eve has declared she wants to be "just friends" with Zack and pursue a relationship with John Cena.

OK, hold on a second...back the train up because we need to explain a few things here outside of the kayfabe world.

If the idea is to get people to cheer for John Cena, then why in God's name would they have him steal his "best friend's" girlfriend?  Is this supposed to make people identify with Cena because all these hot women are throwing themselves at him?

Think of it this way: The average wrestling fan does not look like John Cena.  The average wrestling fan is not going to relate to John Cena in any way, shape or form in this situation.  They are going to view Cena as the big, dumb jock from high school who was way too popular and got all the women even though he was a jerk.

You know who the fans are going to identify with?  Zack Ryder.

Who hasn't lost a girl they liked to a more popular guy?  Most all of us have.  Fans are going to look at this situation and instantly hate Cena (if they don't already) because he made out with his friend's girl while that friend was in an ambulance.

How low can you get?

Before you start the "blah, blah, this is fake, it's not real" stuff, understand this: Wrestling has faces and heels that need to resonate with fans.  The way fans get behind a babyface is to identify with his situation and cheer him to right a wrong.

That's why people got behind Steve Austin so much.  Who hasn't wanted to punch their boss in the face just one time in their lives?  Stone Cold did that for you.

So now, 14-year-old wrestling fans are going to see Cena as the heel in the Eve-Ryder situation because he completely undercut his best friend's relationship.  I'm telling you, the backlash is going to be harsh.

With their video packages, WWE has done everything but bribe fans with money to try and get Cena cheered heading into WrestleMania against The Rock, but then they turn around and do something stupid like this.

Do they really expect fans to cheer Cena for this?  Does Vince McMahon think all guys have supermodels just throwing themselves at them?  It just doesn't make sense.

Cena's babyface character is losing steam and fast.  I'm not saying you have to turn him heel or anything, but this booking is only making him look stupid and come off poorly.
