It looks like the UFC has started 2009 with the clear objective to finish up the card for UFC 96 as soon as possible. In the first week of the new year, they have added multiple bouts and there could be a big announcement coming about the main event very soon.
The latest addition is a lightweight put-up-or-shut-up bout between Jim Miller and Gray "The Boring" Maynard. I'm still not sure how I feel about that one. Miller has proven himself worthy of my ways, but Maynard has an innate ability to lay on top of fighters for 15 minutes and put me to sleep.
One fight I am looking forward to is Dustin Hazelett vs. Ben Saunders. Hazelett is a submission machine and should be able to pull off something crazy (bend something in half). Broken bones always perk me up.
The main event is 95 percent certain to contain Chuck Liddell. His opponent remains in doubt, because the UFC is probably having daily meetings discussing who is least likely to kill him.
