Syracuse sophomore guard Dion Waiters and senior forward Kris Joseph were named to the AP All-American Team as Honorable Mentions.

Both players have played their last games for Syracuse University. Joseph is out of eligibility and Waiters declared he would enter the NBA Draft and hire an agent, thus ending his career with the Orange.

Waiters and Joseph are the 44th and 45th Syracuse basketball players to earn the prestigious distinction.

Joseph finished his Syracuse career No. 25 on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,476 points and No. 28 in rebounds with 627. During his tenure, Syracuse won 119 games, the most for any player in four years at the school.

Syracuse, under Joseph’s and fellow senior Scoop Jardine’s leadership, won a school record 34 games and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament before being ousted by Ohio State, 77-70. The Orange also tied the record for wins in a Big East season with 17.

Waiters, a sophomore from Philadelphia, was second in scoring for the Orange this season, but did so from the bench and was generally considered coach Jim Boeheim’s best offensive weapon.

Waiters showed signs of brilliance during his freshman year with Syracuse but had a rocky relationship with Boeheim and considered leaving the school. Waiters decided to stay and fit into the role of first man off the bench, ultimately earning Big East Sixth Man of the Year honors.

Joseph and Waiters were also named to the All-Big East team, Joseph on the first team and Waiters on the third team.
