John Cena vs. JBL at the Royal Rumble

Anthony ArsenContributor IJanuary 21, 2009

Above we see John Cena holding what was once his WWE World Title. Well, nowadays, as we all know, Cena is not the WWE Champion. He is Raw's World Heavyweight Champion—a tremendous accomplishment for any WWE Superstar. It's not all fun for Cena however, because he will be defending that championship against John Bradshaw Layfield at the Royal Rumble.

JBL and Cena are both outstanding athletes with good track records. JBL is the longest-reigning WWE Champion in SmackDown! history, and had a nice US Title run, to boot. With Cena as well, holding title belts is not a new game, and both men are frequent fliers on the Power 25 on

Cena, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 240 pounds, is no stranger to JBL (6-foot-6, 290 pounds), as they have had their share of matches together. Aside from a good amount of matches from their time together on SmackDown!, the two have had their fair share of show-stoppers. Highlighting the best here:

Judgement Day, 2005, "I Quit" Match
Winner: Cena

Great American Bash, 2008, Parking Lot Brawl
Winner: JBL

One Night Stand, 2008, "First Blood" Match
Winner: Cena

So it seems to be shaping up as a pretty good match with one huge variable: The Showstopper himself, Shawn Michaels. The Heart Break Kid could be a huge problem for Cena. With HBK having already beaten Cena on Raw, he could be the deciding factor in this match.
