Washington Redskins Unveil New Nike 80th Anniversary Uniforms

It wasn't a question of if but rather a question of when the Nike takeover would start to yield radical changes in team uniforms across the NFL. As has been evidenced time and time again at the college level, Nike goes for broke, and the results are polarizing to say the least.

The latest participant in the Nike uniform experiment:

The Washington Redskins and their 80th anniversary threads.

I have to admit, when I first peeked at the image of linebackers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan doing their best Zoolander in the special edition unis, I was a little underwhelmed.

I mean, after Oregon and Baylor, virtually anything Nike touches seems to turn a shade of neon that can only be found on the moon of Pandora.

So this muted, Florida State-inspired combo shouldn't come off nearly as offensive as, say, Denver's throwbacks from last year, or the Seahawks' new-look threads.

Personally, I'm on the fence.

They're certainly not ugly by any means, but they don't really embody the sense of change that seems to be permeating throughout the franchise.

Yes, I'm glad that there isn't a hint of "waste management" yellow. But I was also looking for Nike to toe the line just a little bit.

Either way, I think it was high time the Redskins went with a new look, even if it's only due to make one or two showings this year.

Ultimately, I don't care what the Redskins wear as long as the win total increases significantly.

Sound off, guys. How are the (not-so-different) new-look uniforms faring with Redskins Nation? (More images found here.)
