The Texas Rangers will have to face adversity over the next couple of weeks as they were forced to place Neftali Feliz on the 15-day disabled list on Monday.

MLB.com reported that Feliz was placed on the DL due to right elbow inflammation.

Feliz was bothered by discomfort in his arm on Friday in his outing against the Houston Astros. He was only able to complete 4.2 innings and battled control issues throughout the game as he walked five batters but only allowed one run.

KDFW Sports reported that Scott Feldman is expected to take the rotation spot vacated by Feliz.

Feliz, the converted reliever, has started seven games this season and has earned a 3-1 record. He has pitched to a 3.16 ERA while striking out 37 batters in 42.2 innings pitched. His control has been worrisome all season, as he has allowed 23 walks.

The Rangers will look to keep the Oakland A's at bay in the AL West while Feliz is out of action. If they slip up a bit, it would not be surprising if the L.A. Angels make a move towards the top of the division.
