Matt Cassel: Scott Mitchell Or Steve Young?

Martin SmithContributor IFebruary 13, 2009

This is a question that has been in the back of my mind for a while now. Will Matt Cassel have the same success as Steve Young or fail to live up to expectations like Scott Mitchell?

New England most likely will shop Matt Cassel around until it finds a suitable deal. The Patriots will not going to keep a 14 million dollar player on the bench.

Let's say he went to Kansas City. He might or might not be good. Personally, I think he'll be the next Scott Mitchell for three reasons.

1. He was on a team that went 16-0 the previous year.

2. He had an easy schedule.

3. They installed a simpler style of offense for him.

I may be wrong though. All I'm saying is he will probably be more of a Scott Mitchell. I don't think Matt Cassel will be in the Hall of Fame. He'll probably have a decent career. Let me know what you think.
