After a drama packed month of June, the European Championship has finally come to an end. With that being said, the transfer rumors will now begin to hit the media outlets at a frenetic pace. Latest news out of London is a potential interest from Arsenal in French International goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The Gunners had already shown interest in the Lyon keeper last season as Arsene Wenger looked to bring in an experienced goalkeeper, but the attempt failed. This time around, Lyon sees themselves out of Champions League play, and a player of Lloris' caliber would prefer to play in Europe's most prestigious tournament.

Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas said, "Lloris can go, but only for a decent price in relation to the market." Liverpool and Tottenham have reportedly shown interest in Lloris as well, but the latest reports from France have Arsenal in the lead to capture the French keeper.

Arsene Wenger's philosophy of spending a lot of money to bring in experienced players has gone out the window this summer, in an attempt to persuade Robin Van Persie. With the Dutch International uncertain about his future at Arsenal FC, Wenger has already brought in two top-notch strikers, and now could be on the verge of bringing in another key figure.

With Manuel Almunia having been released and Lukasz Fabianski looking for a move away from the Emirates, Lloris could certainly be a perfect fit for Arsenal. As the Gunners prepare a reported £12million bid for Lloris, current starter Wojciech Szczesny may feel his starting role slipping away.

Although the Polish international had a good season last year, bringing in Lloris would certainly guarantee the French keeper the starting position. He not only has the experience over Szczesny, but he also has played at the top level for quite some time now.

His leadership would be an incredible addition to an Arsenal squad that is on the brink of success. A side that has competed year in and year out, but continue to lack that mental strength to get them over that one crucial and vital victory that they need.

Adding someone like Lloris would not only add defensive stability and confidence, but it would also send another message to Van Persie that Wenger is ready to lay it all on the line.

What is your take on the potential signing of Lloris and how important would he be to this Arsenal side that is shaping up to be a potential contender this season?
