After Robin van Persie released this statement via The Telegraph to the public, Arsene Wenger has sought another goalscoring option to take the role of the embittered Arsenal captain.

Colin Mafham of Express reported that Wenger has his eyes set on Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic.

Having already acquired two other strikers (Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski) this transfer period, Wenger is trying to shore up the offense so he can prevent a slow start similar to last year's.

Van Persie was the team's saving grace due in large part to his team-high 30 goals scored.

With Van Persie seemingly on the way out of Northern London, is Jovetic's potential signing a good one?

I would say Jovetic brings a lot to Arsenal and is an ideal replacement for Van Persie.

He is a young player who has demonstrated good talent as a striker in Serie A (he scored 14 goals in 27 appearances).

It also doesn't hurt that he has been compared to Roberto Baggio, Italian great and former Fiorentina player.

Jovetic can play in the box as a striker or line up in the midfield. He can drill the ball into the back of the net from 30 yards out, has impressive dribbling skills and creates plays with good through balls.

Jovetic's asking price is around £25 million, which I don't think is out of reach for Wenger and company.

If Wenger snatches up Jovetic, he replaces the hole created by Van Persie's soon-to-be departure and augments the front line with a plethora of goal scorers.

All in all, Jovetic is a great fit for Arsenal.
