New England Patriots: Best and Worst Case Scenarios for 2012

Matt Miller@nfldraftscoutNFL Draft Lead WriterJuly 20, 2012

Folks doubting the New England Patriots' chances in 2012 need to check just two things: Is Tom Brady still the quarterback, and is Bill Belichick the head coach? If so, the rest is just icing on the cake.

Expectations will be high again in 2012 after a loss in the Super Bowl last year to the New York Giants. The Patriots have the talent to go on a revenge tour like we haven't seen in the NFL before. With Brady, Brandon Lloyd, Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and one hell of an offensive line, New England is stacked offensively.

In 2011, it was the defense holding this team back at times. The draft brought Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower, but will that be enough to revitalize an aging corps on defense?

Check out the best- and worst-case scenarios, brought to you by Dan Levy, Josh Zerkle, Aaron Nagler and myself in Bleacher Report's season preview of the New England Patriots.
