It seems as though one of the richest ownership groups in professional football have somehow forgotten that the summer transfer window is open.

All jokes aside, one of the busiest teams in the past few seasons has been quiet this summer. With a number of players speculated towards the Eastlands, Mancini and company have held off on pulling the trigger on any deals.

While the side has been linked with names like Daniele de Rossi, Gaston Ramirez and Robin van Persie (to name a few) Roberto Mancini has spoken very little of his intentions this summer, until today.

Roberto Mancini spoke publicly today of his intent to bring in players to strengthen his side before the new season.

Roberto Mancini spoke to the media, insisting players would be added, despite the already high wages of the club.

It's important to change some players in some positions...If we are going to have a winning mentality and we want to win, it is important. We won the last championship and we have a good team, but this year will be harder because, when you win, the problem is to win again. For this reason I think that we need to improve our team with maybe some new players. I'm sure that maybe in the next two weeks we can do something about new players. We are talking to some players, but the market is not easy. It's difficult, and for this reason we need more time.

It is believed that Roberto Mancini will be looking to add depth to both the central defense and defensive midfield position. With both Toure brothers set to participate in the African Cup of Nations again next January, there will be holes to fill at these positions.

There is only a few weeks left until the beginning of the new English Premier League season, so expect transfer rumors to heat up around the blue half of Manchester right up until the transfer window closes.
