Dave's College Basketball Picks, Mar. 6: Evansville at Illinois State

dave darbySenior Analyst IMarch 6, 2009

Evansville (17-12, 8-10) at Illinois State (22-8, 11-7)

Game being played at the ScottTrade Center in Saint Louis

Line: Illinois State -4.5

Evansville lost their final regular season game 62-69 to Northern Iowa. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak and was the Aces' fourth straight loss on the road. Evansville shot well in the game but got to the line just 13 times compared to the Panthers' 28. Shy Ely led the way for Evansville with 26 points. No one else on the team reached double digits.

Illinois State fell to Creighton 74-70 and has now lost three in a row. In the Redbirds' defense, two games were on the road and they played the top two teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. Illinois State finished the regular season alone in third place.

ATS

Evansville is 14-11-1 against the spread, including 5-5-1 on the road.

Illinois State is 14-12 against the spread, including 7-6 on the road.

Illinois State has had more success on the road than Evansville and is a few notches better on both sides of the floor. I look for a double-digit Redbird victory.

Dave’s Pick: Illinois State -4.5
