By now, you must have seen the Knicks new bright orange uniforms, as modeled by Iman Shumpert.

Thanks to Knicks fan Jonathan Gosper—who tweeted them out to Alan Hahn—we got our first look at the uniforms, and they are certainly eye-catching.

What you may not know, however, is that this isn't simply an attempt by the Knicks to break the mold of basketball fashion, but is in fact our first look at what will ultimately be a new league-wide series of uniforms.

Just take a look at this quote from Chris Blackstone (via UniWatch):

"I saw the Spring 2013 Adidas NBA Catalog and there are some new on-court offerings. There are new jerseys for Christmas Day and for home weekend games during the second half of season, called the Winter Court jerseys. They’re monochrome like the all-black Miami uniforms from the past couple years, but in team colors."

As you can tell from the orange-on-orange color palette, these are the Knicks' versions of these "monochrome" uniforms.

Shumpert, who signed with Adidas ahead of his rookie season, has these images of the new uniforms up in the Adidas photo gallery on his brand new website. This pretty much confirms that these are the new uniforms in question.

Plenty of NBA teams will be joining the Knicks in wearing this brand new style of uniform, and they can all be found in video game NBA 2K13.

Those aren't great quality, but there are plenty of other leaked images of the uniforms on the internet, including the Bulls' edition, which is modelled here by another Adidas player in Derrick Rose. Some mark-ups can also be found here (h/t The Windy Apple). has also started to stock the new "Winter Court Collection," with all products fitting in with that same one-color format.

It's not yet known whether these are long-term changes or just something that will be tried out this season, but official details will likely come to fore nearer Christmas.
