The New York Jets didn't have much of a chance of making the playoffs when they were 3-5; in fact, in the words of head coach Rex Ryan, they weren't even "sniffing" the playoffs.

Now, at 3-6, following a harrowing 28-7 loss to the Seahawks?

"It's about a two percent chance of making the playoffs with the record we have," Ryan said. "I don't know how many more losses you can spot somebody before you (still) think you can make the playoffs."

So you're tellin' me there's a chance...

A week ago, we looked into the playoff history of 3-5 teams to find that only seven out of a possible 247 teams (slightly better than 2.8 percent) that have started 3-5 or worse have made the playoffs.

It would follow that the odds would be lower at 3-6, and while we won't split hairs over the exact number, it's fair to say that the Jets are closer to a top 10 pick in the draft than they are to playoff contention.

Here's some more news and analysis from around the AFC East.
