The Natural Born Killer AKA Carlos Condit wants to ruin the homecoming and return of Georges St-Pierre. He is looking to remove the interim tag from his title, but he has to go through GSP to do it.
GSP is still recognized as the UFC welterweight champion, but he's fresh off rehabbing the torn ACL that has kept him out of action for over a year. The MMA world is anxious to see if he's still the elite fighter many believe him to be.
As UFC main events go, this one has all the factors you look for.
It has the big name with GSP, it has the intrigue, as we get an opportunity to see just how well he rehabbed the injury, and the big name also has the requisite formidable opponent in Condit.
Condit is 28-5 in his MMA career, and he won the interim welterweight title by winning a unanimous decision over Nick Diaz in February at UFC 143. Condit has earned the right to fight for this title, and it should be an exciting main event.
In case you aren't able to watch this event on TV, it will be streamed live by various outlets licensed by the UFC. It is a pay event, but you can take a look at all of the live stream options here.
Beyond the featured attraction, UFC 154 includes other exciting bouts.
Also in the welterweight division, the "Hitman" Martin Kampmann will take on "Bigg Rigg" Johny Hendricks. This is a pivotal matchup between top contenders in the welterweight division.
Hendricks has shown tremendous punching power, and he has an impressive wrestling background. He is 13-1 and on a four-fight win streak. Bigg Rigg's opponent is no slouch.
Kampmann is a longtime contender, and he brings an excellent submission game, an iron will and chin. He brings a ton of experience into the octagon, and a 20-5 record.
This clash could be just as exciting as the title fight that culminates the night.
