Lex Luger showed up on Hardcore Pawn this past Tuesday, and it wasn't to lock Les Gold in the dreaded Torture Rack for offering him a bad deal.
Normally, if you were to watch the show and see a pro wrestler walk through the doors, it would mean that some good TV was on the way. It's been years since Luger stepped in the wrestling ring, so the stars of the TruTV show had nothing to worry about.
Instead, the two-time World Heavyweight Champion was on a noble mission, selling off some of his wrestling memorabilia to the Detroit pawn shop.
The proceeds of the deal would go to the non-profit organization, World Wrestling Outreach. With that in mind, Gold and his son Seth decided to put the negotiating aside to a certain extent. For $3,500, they purchased a robe, knee pads, trunks and boots all worn by the former wrestler.
Luger was quoted on the show, saying:
Well, I personally am very excited. I didn't know what to expect. I was getting in there with these master negotiators. On behalf of a good cause, they went a little soft on us, and I'm very thankful.
Wrestling fans will be happy to see Luger in general. For a man who once headlined Starrcade with Ric Flair and won the world title from Hulk Hogan on WCW Nitro, times have gotten a bit tough for Luger.
He had numerous run-ins with the law. Then there was the death of former wrestling valet Miss Elizabeth in 2003. Four years later, he had health problems that left him paralyzed for a short time.
Looking much different from his wrestling days, Luger was in good spirits and walking with the help of a cane.
Luger's wrestling gear is available for the princely sum of $7,499.99.
