Bowl Projections: Stanford Will Own Nebraska in 2013 Rose Bowl

The 2013 Rose Bowl may not be quite as good as past bowl games have been, with the Stanford Cardinal destroying the Nebraska Cornhuskers in what will be a comical game.

The two teams are definitely not on the same level and Stanford is going to embarrass the Cornhuskers in a BCS Bowl this season.

Let's take a look at how this year's Rose Bowl will play out.

Stanford's Road to Pasadena

Stanford has just one more game left in the regular season, coming against No. 17 UCLA.

Stanford's balanced offense, led by Josh Nunes and Stepfan Taylor, has the talent to beat UCLA's defense, which allows 25.0 points per game.

Stanford's defense is even stingier than that of UCLA, allowing a mere 16.9 points per game.

The team gave up just 14 points to the high-powered offense of the Oregon Ducks and will shut down UCLA.  They should be able to improve to 8-1 in the Pac-12 and clinch the Pac-12 North.

Stanford will then face the Bruins once again in the Pac-12 Championship Game, as the Bruins have already clinched the Pac-12 South.

By beating a lesser UCLA team twice, Stanford will clinch the Pac-12 and go to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl.

Nebraska's Road to Pasadena

The Cornhuskers have already finished their regular season, winning the Big Ten Legends division, and advancing to the Big Ten Championship Game against the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Badgers absolutely should not have made it this far, but with undefeated Ohio State and 5-2 Penn State ineligible, the 4-3 Badgers have been given the chance to claw their way into a BCS Bowl.

Unfortunately for Wisconsin, the team has to play a Nebraska team that is 7-1 this season.  Needless to say, they're going to embarrass the Badgers.

This is a rematch of a game that took place on September 29, a game in which the Cornhuskers beat Wisconsin 30-27.

Since that game, the Badgers have struggled, losing two of their last four games. The Cornhuskers, on the other hand, have rattled off six straight wins after losing to Ohio State and are hot right now.

The Cornhuskers are going to win this game in a blowout and clinch a spot in the Rose Bowl.

Predictions for the Game

This game is going to get real ugly, real fast.

As much as I love Ameer Abdullah and Nebraska's ground game, the team is going to struggle against a top 10 defense like that of Stanford.

Nebraska has only played one game against a top 20 opponent this season, being embarrassed by No. 12 Ohio State 63-38.

Stanford is just as good as the Buckeyes and I expect the team to put a hurtin' on Nebraska in the Rose Bowl.

Prediction: Stanford 45, Nebraska 23
