Roman Reigns: Why He Is the Superstar to Watch in the Shield

The WWE Universe has been introduced to the newest faction over the past few weeks, and Monday night on Raw they were given a name: The Shield.

The group consist of developmental stars Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns. Rollins is the current NXT Champion and is well known for his in-ring ability from his time on both NXT and as Tyler Black in Ring of Honor. Dean Ambrose is one of the IWC's favorite guys due to his combination of off the chart speaking skills and pretty good in-ring ability.

Since the group's debut, everyone has been talking about the future of Rollins and Ambrose, but let's focus on the major question mark of the ground in Roman Reigns.

Reigns is a member of the legendary wrestling Anoa'i family and is related to high-profile members such as The Rock and Rikishi. Reigns also played football in college at Georgia Tech and was named to the All-ACC First-Team during his senior year, leading many to believe that he would drafted into the NFL, but that was not to be. Reigns ended up trying his luck in the Canadian Football League, but a few years later he would follow in his family's footsteps and join the WWE.

Reigns spent time as Tag Team Champion and as a top contender in the developmental territory at the time in the WWE, FCW. On February 3rd of this year, Reigns won his most profiled match against his now Shield teammates, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. You can check out this match to see their chemistry in the ring as opponents.

I'm not saying Reigns will become a bigger star than Rollins and/or Ambrose, but it does have the potential to happen. Triple H has shown that he has no problem letting the smaller guys get over and become champion, but with Vince McMahon still around, the big guys are still going to get their pushes as well.

Many are predicting that Reigns will be the first to go out of the three and many are even referring to the group as Rollins, Ambrose, and the future endeavored. But I predict Roman Reigns as a future WWE Champion.

He's very green right now, both with his lack of promo skills and in-ring, but the WWE has the best trainers and developmental territory in professional wrestling, and if they can turn Skip Sheffield into an undefeated title contender like Ryback then I can only imagine what they can do with a guy like Roman Reigns.
