According to WrestlingInc.com , it was announced at tonight's SmackDown television taping that WWE Champion CM Punk will not compete at the TLC pay-per-view, leaving the event without a main-event match.

It was announced at tonight's SmackDown tapings from the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina that WWE Champion CM Punk will no longer be facing Ryback at TLC.

Ryback will now team up with Daniel Bryan and Kane to face The Shield in a six-man tag team match.

The six-man tag team match makes complete sense considering the recent events on Raw, with the Shield regularly attacking Ryback, Kane and Daniel Bryan and one has to wonder if WWE planned the interactions with the WWE Tag Team Champions because they had an idea that Punk would need some kind of surgery.

Unfortunately, the event is left without a WWE Championship match and no feud strong enough to really fill the main-event slot. John Cena versus Dolph Ziggler has been a solid program but, with Cena defeating Ziggler two weeks in a row, one has to wonder if the fans buy into Dolph as legitimate competition to the company's poster boy. Sheamus and Big Show is not nearly fresh enough to warrant the main event.

The company still has time to address the strength of the card and, perhaps, shift a few things around to entice the casual viewer to invest in TLC. Only time will tell.
