Jeremy Lin became a global household name last season with a spectacular stretch of games for the New York Knicks in which he went from a garbage-time benchwarmer to international superstar.

He parlayed his sensational underdog story into a shiny new contract from the Houston Rockets and is still trying to find the same groove that made him famous last year.

It's only a few months into the season, but with the hype and excitement surrounding Linsanity, the social-media sites were bound to be buzzing.

With that being said, let's go around and take a look at some of the best Twitter and Instagram pictures featuring the one and only Jeremy Lin during his first season in Houston.

Jeremy and Friends

This series of pictures features Lin and some of his best buddies, new and old.

Rockets forward Chandler Parsons shows how he literally supports Lin on the court, and we see the teamwork and friendship involved in adjusting your shoes (via Instagram: @princessmimi74).

Parsons and Lin are at it again with another one of Jeremy's hilarious pre-game handshakes as they take a page from Rihanna's playbook and "Take a Bow" (via Instagram: @vianna_liu).

The acquisition of James Harden from Oklahoma City was a sudden blockbuster move for Houston, but Jeremy and Omer Asik wasted no time showing him that he was welcomed with totally real, not digital beards of their own (via Instagram: @filipaarruda).

When Lin returned to New York for the first time this year, he made sure to catch up with his old pal/volunteer firefighter Amare Stoudemire (via Instagram: @NBA).

Lin showed Knicks center Tyson Chandler a lot of love in this picture, leaving an obviously jealous and distraught Omer Asik to pout in the background (via Instagram: @Knickstape_).

Just Jeremy

This series of pictures contains some of the better solo shots of Linsanity from this season.

Here we see Lin in New York, smack in the center of one of the world's biggest stages, a place he called home just months before (via Instagram: @Will_888).

We got a chance to see this face a few times last season from Jeremy. It's one of those "disgusted with my own ability to ball out" looks, one that he has been perfecting throughout his career (via Instagram: @dewel).

This is a literal interpretation by Lin that directly proves wrong those critics who say that he can't "hang around" in the league as a starting point guard (via Instagram: @Stanndamann).

We'll close out this list with a timely snapshot of Jeremy and his Christmas tree, including the obligatory tough-guy pose next to said tree (via Twitter: @JLin7):

As Lin continues his first full season as a starter, it isn't quite clear just how much star potential he actually has.

Now that we are in the aftermath of the Linsanity of last season, the dust has settled a bit, and this year in Houston will be a great chance to see if he truly has the mettle to be the kind of player we saw last year on a consistent basis.

What is seemingly unending, however, is his popularity in the media and with his fans from overseas.

With his dedicated fanbase sure to keep the hype up, you can expect to see plenty more pictures of Jeremy Lin plastered all over the social-media universe.
