Evan Longoria's great year is now far better with the announcement he and his lovely girlfriend, Jaime Edmondson, are expecting a child.
The best news for the Tampa Bay Rays' new $100 million man was first reported with an adorable tweet from his Playboy Playmate partner.
Here is what Edmondson tweeted to the masses on Sunday evening:
Evan & I really appreciate all of the kind words & well wishes we have gotten today...we look forward to being parentstwitpic.com/bmoapi— jaime edmondson (@jaimeedmondson) December 17, 2012
Yes, that would be papa Evan Longoria's jersey hanging with a pint-sized replica that will one day be worn by his child.
We could think of no better way to announce the good news.
As you will recall, Longoria recently signed an extension with the Tampa Bay Rays that will keep him in town through 2022, with a club option to keep him around for another year after that (via Yahoo! Sports).
Such longevity didn't come cheaply, and the franchise will pay the star slugger an addition $100 million for his services.
Still, all that money pales in comparison to the riches of a new baby on the way.
As USA Today reminds us, the couple have been dating for about two years now. Longoria (27) is a three-time All-Star who just finished up an injury-riddled season wherein he only managed to play in 74 games, but still hit 17 home runs.
Edmondson was the January 2010 Playboy Playmate and is now an ecstatic expecting mother. Congratulations are in order for the both of them.
