According to the Telegraph, Liverpool are interested in sealing a loan deal for Kevin Gameiro, who currently plays in Ligue 1 (French League) for Paris Saint-Germain but is finding opportunities limited because of the presence and form of star Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

If these reports are true it says a lot about the lack of a serious sum of money available with Liverpool to sign quality players and make significant strides toward where the club wants to be. Liverpool had already handicapped themselves when they sent Andy Carroll out on loan and refused to sanction the purchase of even a "cheap" striker such as Clint Dempsey.

With the injury to Fabio Borini Liverpool were left with only Luis Suarez as the lone senior striker available for a good few months, and if it were not for the Uruguayan's form, Liverpool might have possibly been staring at relegation form.

The Telegraph adds:

Manager Brendan Rodgers had originally lined up the Frenchman as an alternative to Sturridge, in case the deal for the England striker faltered.

But he is now keen to add even more striking power to his ranks and hopes to sign Gameiro as well to revamp his attacking options.

...

Gameiro was one of the most highly sought after attackers in French football when he moved to PSG for £9 million in the summer of 2011. He scored 14 goals last season, and is also a France international.

Gameiro has shown in the past with FC Lorient that he is a prolific scorer and can provide assists too. Having said that, the English league is very different to the French league. What does impress me about Gameiro, though, is that his movement is excellent, and Liverpool need a player like that.

Gameiro has scored many goals by getting in behind the defense and that is certainly one of the things lacking with the Reds at present. When Raheem Sterling was brought into the mix I thought he could be used for that specific purpose but that has not been the case.

The Frenchman if recruited will certainly provide good competition to Fabio Borini and Daniel Sturridge which is surely the need of the hour at every position for Mr. Brendan Rodgers to optimize performances.
