The 2013 BCS National Championship Game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Notre Dame Fighting Irish has the potential to be one of the most exciting matchups of all time.

While the pregame hype is already at a ridiculous level, sometimes fans need to spice things up even more by placing a wager down on the action. However, occasionally a standard against the spread, money line or point total bet just isn’t enough.

If you are looking to make some more exotic prop bets and hoping to win a few coins on this national title game, look no further. Keep reading for the three best props we have identified, and good luck gambling.

Will a special teams or defensive TD be scored?

Yes (+145)

No (-175)

It’s a bit ridiculous to see that, between two of the best defensive teams in the nation, neither is expected to score a touchdown on that side of the football.

Both ‘Bama and the Irish possess notoriously capable and opportunistic players, especially when it comes to intercepting subpar QBs.

Give plenty of credit to A.J. McCarron and Everett Golson, but the two starting signal-callers in this contest both leave something to be desired. One of them is bound to make a critical mistake and will wind up throwing a pick-six.

At 1.45/1, you’d be a fool not to take this home-run prop bet.

Team to score first?

Alabama (-180)

Notre Dame (+150)

While we firmly believe ‘Bama coach Nick Saban and the rest of this potent Tide powerhouse is going to claim a second straight championship, Notre Dame isn’t just going to roll over and let them.

The Irish may not wow onlookers with sheer offensive firepower, but their skill position players aren’t exactly scrubs either. There’s going to be ample opportunity to exploit holes in the ‘Bama defense—a great unit but one that isn’t perfect either.

In fact, we think the Irish will use a bit of trickery early on, as AP Coach of the Year Brian Kelly will cook up something to catch the Tide napping and turn it into a huge play for the game’s first TD.

Longest TD play of the game?

Over 40.5 yards (-110)

Under 40.5 yards (-120)

This prop goes hand in hand with the previous one, as we believe the first score of the game is going to be a long Notre Dame TD pass. If this comes to fruition, you’re going to want to grab some more value by taking the over on this bet.

It seems the public is convinced this will be a dink and dunk matchup—as there is less value in betting the under—but we’ll bet otherwise.

Remember, this can include defensive plays too, so a long pick-six would also cash a ticket if it were returned for 41 or more yards.

There’s certainly going to be one big play in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, so this prop is the easiest on the board to hit.
