The Rock Returns
As the road to WrestleMania really begins, the Royal Rumble usually has the honor of being the first step on the journey. Not this year. With so much action scheduled for the next two weeks of Raw, the road to ‘Mania starts Jan. 7 with the return of The Rock.
Question on Everyone’s Mind: Is The Rock Ready to be WWE Champion?
Ready or not, here The Rock comes to be the WWE champion. He is a movie star and keeps himself in incredible shape, so there is no question he will look the part, How well he performs in the ring is a major question, though, and as we saw against John Cena at WrestleMania 28, The Rock is working through some serious ring rust.
Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Nostalgia Pops
At the end of the day, wrestling is just a form of entertainment, and The Rock is one of the most enthralling speakers the sport has ever seen. With a show to build and a WWE Championship coming his way, there is no doubt that Monday night will be The Rock’s return to being the wise-cracking superstar we all loved in the Attitude Era and beyond.

WWE Title Match…Maybe
When WWE.com reported that CM Punk was cleared to compete on the Jan. 7 episode of Raw, it was obvious that the company was hard-selling the fact that this match will actually happen. That could be foreshadowing that something will ruin this bout before it ever starts.
Question on Everyone’s Mind: Will the WWE Title be Defended Monday?
The company has advertised this match for weeks, so there will be at least a semblance of a match on Raw, but how it ends is anyone’s guess. With Ryback being screwed out of a title shot every chance he gets, allowing him to lose dirty again would stifle his momentum.
Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Déjà Vu Moments
No matter what the WWE does—gives the match away or ruins it before it starts—the outcome has to be fresh and different in order to keep the fans at home interested in Ryback and his pursuit of the championship. Ryback won’t win the title Monday, but he will walk away looking strong.
