Could Kobe Bryant Lead the NBA in Assists?

Amid a roller coaster Los Angeles Lakers season, Kobe Bryant's career is taking a new turn. Over the past four games, he's averaging 12 assists.

We are now witnesses to point guard Kobe, an iteration that many fans and pundits believe should have existed prior to right now. Others feel that he's passing too much, and that the Lakers need his early-season scoring prowess to make a playoff run.

We all know that Kobe Bryant has excellent court vision, but the question is whether or not he's optimizing it. Related, it's an open question as to how many assists Kobe Bryant could rack up over a season if he really wanted to. Does Kobe have a John Stockton imitation in his arsenal?
