Africa Cup of Nations

Ivory Coast 1-2 Nigeria

43'—Emenike

50'—Tiote

79'—Mba

Nigeria advance to the semifinals and face Mali, Ivory Coast trudge home disappointed once more.

The much-lauded "golden generation" for the Elephants yet again underwhelmed, while the Super Eagles put in a wonderful display to defy their group stage form.

Emmanuel Emenike opened the scoring with a long-range bullet free kick routine as his side took control of the tie in the first half, but CIV came out firing and Cheick Tiote's back-post header launched their comeback hopes.

The game went stale, however, for a good 20 minutes as each country vied for possession, and it was one moment of brilliance—accompanied by a deflection—that saw Sunday Mba's effort beat Boubacar Barry to win it.
