The 2013 WWE Elimination Chamber saw some huge results take place and key figures walk away with massive victories on an epic night of pay-per-view action.
Headlined by The Rock's win over CM Punk that sets up a bout with John Cena at WrestleMania 29, the Elimination Chamber also allowed several other stars to emerge as big winners on the night—none more so than The Shield, who finished with a huge victory in this one.
Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were just too good for Ryback, John Cena and Sheamus—proving themselves to be a great WWE trio.
Yet their win will have a longer-lasting impact than just this fight; The Shield has the ability to give a fresh new threat to the WWE main events and a new sense of momentum right around the competition.
As Bleacher Report's Jack Woodfield notes:
What we have learned from this seismic victory is that WWE clearly holds The Shield in extremely high regard. Beating three of the company's leading stars is no mean feat, and it illustrates that whomever the trio encounters in the future, The Shield will be likely to prevail in any three vs. three situation.
With triple beatdowns getting stale, The Shield's victory in the Elimination Chamber showed that they are the best thing for the future of WWE. They can keep the storyline fresh and head into WrestleMania with a plethora of potential avenues to be explored.
Which can only mean good things for WWE as a whole.
The Shield have been dominant in their victories—particularly over big names—and have given fans a new favorite and wrestling group to religiously follow.
The buzz and anticipation that will be ahead of The Shield at WrestleMania 29 now will be incredible given their victory in the Elimination Chamber.
Questions will be asked about who they'll come up against, whether they'll individually win the title, whether they'll compete for the Tag Team Championships or simply what will the WWE do with them in the future—all of those will continue to provide great speculation and discussion around the league.
Which is exactly what the company wants with The Shield.
They know they're on to something special and they know that with a breakthrough at WrestleMania, they could well have a new top trio on their hands.
It will be important for the WWE to utilize The Shield's future in an effective way, and still allow their purpose to evolve and their character as a group to continue.
But until then, expect the attention and notoriety around The Shield to simply keep on growing—right into the biggest night of them all at WrestleMania 29. They won't steal the headlines off John Cena and The Rock, but they might just write a few headlines of their own after an epic night.
Either way, The Shield have some serious value right now following their big win at the 2013 Elimination Chamber, and no doubt have a big future ahead of them.
Believe in The Shield.
