Dickey Nutt: The New Head Coach at Southeast Missouri State

Note: This is not a humor article.

Around a month ago, the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks found themselves a new head basketball coach who goes by the name Dickey Nutt.

Nutt has not had the most successful career as a head coach, to say the least. In 12.5 seasons at the helm of Arkansas State, Nutt posted a 189-187 record. His Sun Belt Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999 were the only memorable postseason moments of his career.

Nutt has not coached a game since he resigned from ASU in January of 2008, and he will certainly have his hands full with a team that went 3-27 in 2008-09.

I feel bad for Nutt. With a name like his, he is lucky that he has not had any coaching jobs around the New York Media. You really need to wonder what the guy's parents were thinking when they named him. All I know is they must have been nuts.
