A dream match between factions should always piqué fans’ interest. This matchup is no different but could result in a headache.

In one corner, D-Generation X helped shape the Attitude Era with its sophomoric jokes and bad-boy attitude that catapulted them to successful careers. They were dominant, no matter if Shawn Michaels, Triple H or both led the group.

From their in-ring introductions to their crotch-chops, DX took on anyone at any time.

In the other corner, The Shield is an unstoppable force. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have dominated WWE as a unit. Whether it’s ambushing talent or going to war, The Shield remains a strong, cohesive group. Believe in The Shield, indeed.

What would happen if these two groups went to war? For starters, the standard matchup would be a handicap match. Excluding the New Age Outlaws and X-Pac would only be fair to The Shield. In fact, a battle between them and the two founders makes perfect sense. HBK and Triple H fought more than two wrestlers during their time under the first DX comeback.

The match itself would be similar to Evolution’s WrestleMania 20 match with the Rock 'n' Sock Connection. The Shield would use teamwork to isolate either man and use their smash-mouth style to wear down DX.

Michaels and Triple H would do well at first, using their taunting and out-wrestling strategy. Their strategy would definitely frustrate The Shield and would work to perfection.

The difference maker could be Roman Reigns. The enforcer of the group was key in the TLC war and at the Elimination Chamber bout, where he took out Sheamus and Ryback. If Reigns took out one of the two, it’s game over.

Keep in mind, DX would have a handful containing Rollins and Ambrose, who both possess different skill sets than Reigns.

However, it all comes down to one second. The match wouldn’t likely be finished cleanly. One thing The Shield hasn’t done is cheat in their victories. DX has and is counting on Triple H to bring out that sledgehammer.

But that one second belongs to Michaels. His Sweet Chin Music is still revered as one of the best finishers in WWE history. One kick is all it takes. If Michaels hits it on any one of The Shield, then it’s over. They’ll take a nap in this one.

Either side could win this one, but the winner of this match goes to D-Generation X. If they fight more than once, however, expect The Shield to win the war.
