Big news from next week’s Raw, as it appears the WWE has locked in several legendary stars for its second "Old School" themed show.
This is according to Dish Network's TV guide listing (seen here), which gives a brief synopsis of next week’s show.
The Guide states:
WWE Old School RAW. Featuring Ric Flair, Mean Gene Okerlund, Dusty Rhodes, JR & Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
Overall, I am a bit surprised that Flair is coming back for a nostalgia show. Especially considering he was just on Raw a few weeks ago essentially "passing the torch" to The Miz. In fact, after that appearance it all but seemed that "The Nature Boy" was slated to be The Miz's manager.
Ultimately, that never came to fruition and Flair hasn't been back on WWE TV since.
Outside of Flair, it appears the company is rolling out its usual cast of characters for this type of show. This is a bit disappointing; considering the WWE has several former stars that fans would probably rather see.
I can honestly say that, I can do without another segment with Duggan or Okerlund. Don't get me wrong, both men cemented their places in history. However, I just feel like the WWE doesn't put enough effort into these appearances and just goes to the old reliable stars.
In the end, I am grateful that the company has legends it can rely on. That being said, it would be nice to see a return from more recent retirees like Steve Austin or Edge.
