Penn State couldn't shock the college basketball world twice.

In the first round of the Big Ten tournament, Michigan took care of business and defeated Penn State.

It was the Michigan defense that stepped up in the second half. The Wolverines increased the tempo and Penn State could not keep up.

Trey Burke showed us again why he is a national player of the year candidate. He scored a game-high 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field. He also went 4-of-4 from the line.

The Michigan bench also worked wonders for John Beilein. Mitch McGary and Jon Horford hauled in a combined 16 rebounds. They also added 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor.

Michigan will play Wisconsin at 2:30 on Friday.
