It would seem that WWE is finally beginning to realize something that fans have all known for a while: The Divas division sucks. The division has sucked for a while, but until recently it hasn't been due to lack of talent. Instead, it seemed as though WWE simply didn't care about the division or the Divas in general.
This past week on Raw, the WWE Universe witnessed the return of the Bella Twins. It would appear that this was just the first move to be made to fix the Divas division. Various articles have popped up this week citing the possible returns of Kharma, Maryse and Kelly Kelly.
It would appear that another name can be added to that list.
With the exception of Kharma, none of the other former Divas have given any indication as to whether or not they are looking to make a return. Even Kharma's response of "perhaps" isn't anything to get all that excited about.
However, one thing that is worth getting excited about is the fact that WWE is finally paying attention to the Divas division. Prior to the return of the Bella Twins, the division consisted of the following:
- AJ Lee
- Alicia Fox
- Rosa Mendes
- Tamina Snuka
This list of females isn't exactly something to write home about.
What if you were to take that list and add the Bellas and potentially Kharma, Maryse, Kelly and Phoenix to it? If this were to happen, the WWE would have revamped the whole division in a single swoop.
I do not believe the WWE will ever be able to recreate what the Divas division had during its heyday. The days of having a division filled with Divas like Trish Stratus, Lita, Victoria, Jazz, Molly Holly, Victoria and Gail Kim seem to be long gone. Today we get to see Kaitlyn, Layla and Tamina go at it. Please don't misunderstand me, it's not that they don't have talent. The issue is that they are just not overly talented.
Hopefully in the coming days and weeks we will learn more about the potential returns of the aforementioned Divas. Until then, I think we should all take solace in the fact that it looks like the WWE is finally making an intelligent Diva-related decision.
