Major League Baseball's Opening Day is here, and what better way to start than New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox?

FINAL: Red Sox 8, Yankees 2

The Red Sox simply controlled the game throughout after scoring four runs in the second inning.

CC Sabathia struggled early and the Red Sox took advantage.

New York answered with two runs in the fourth on a single by Francisco Cervelli, but the offense was stagnate the rest of the game.

Boston added a run in the seventh and three in the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Jacoby Ellsbury and Jose Iglesias each had three hits and a run scored, while Shane Victorino had three RBI.

Boston is in sole possession of first place as no other AL East team was playing.
