The Jacksonville Jaguars are eager to turn over a new leaf to become a more competitive NFL franchise. On Tuesday, they unveiled a fresh look courtesy of Nike, with a different uniform and helmet to be worn for the upcoming season.

Offensive guard Uche Nwaneri and five other Jags standouts officially presented the uniforms in the press conference from EverBank Field, as the team's official Twitter page announced beforehand:
Nike global designer Todd Van Horne was on hand to assist with the presentation. The uniform provides four-way stretch materials, which Van Horne explains gives the players a light feel, plenty of flexibility and the inability for opponents to grab on effectively.
The helmet is also noticeably different, changing from a black color to a solid gold, which makes the logo really pop out.
Owner Shahid Khan explained to Van Horne he wanted the team to go in a "new direction."
Khan was displeased with Mike Mularkey's only season in Jacksonville, and thus an entirely new power structure was put into place. David Caldwell has been inserted as the new GM, and ex-Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley will serve as the head coach.
Bradley is known for his enthusiasm, passion and obvious expertise on the defensive side of the ball. Considering the depth of the incoming rookie class, the Jags have a golden opportunity with the No. 2 overall pick in Thursday's first round of the 2013 NFL draft.
It's essential that Caldwell hits on this pick and lands an immediate impact player.
Selecting a franchise cornerstone to combine with a more aesthetically pleasing appearance as far as uniforms are concerned would be key in helping the Jaguars' currently suffering brand.
Jacksonville is a smaller NFL market as it is, and the team's recent struggles certainly aren't helping. The Jags went 2-14 last season and haven't finished over .500 since 2007. Another Florida franchise, the Miami Dolphins, made significant moves in free agency this offseason and also changed their logo.
While Miami looks to be a team on the rise with a new decal, perhaps the same could be done for the Jags with a strong draft and a renewed take on their on-field gear.
