There's already a great deal of curiosity surrounding Total Divas, the WWE reality show due to air on the E! Network in the summer.
As WWE's recent press release noted, the show will offer an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at several Divas and aspiring Divas and their trials and tribulations as they attempt to navigate their way to the top of the company.
The Bella Twins, Natalya and The Funkadactyls, as well as newcomers Eva Marie and Jo-Jo Offerman, will be the featured performers of the show, which will debut in June.
While Total Divas may not sound like your typical wrestling fan's cup of tea, if you think about it, it is perfect for the E! Network.
Young, spirited and attractive women being catty toward one another and getting into vicious arguments? That's the type of thing E!'s targeted audience, who love the melodramatic antics of the Kardashian clan, should lap up.
(Although let's hope Brie Bella doesn't convince real-life boyfriend Daniel Bryan to marry her in a big, lavish ceremony, only to walk out on the poor man 72 days later.)
Interestingly, in this week's (subscribers-only) Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer mentioned that the E! cameras were present when The Bella Twins and The Funkadactyles were told their match was being taken off the WrestleMania 29 show due to time constraints: "Whether this airs or not I don’t know, but for the Divas show, they did air when the Bellas and Naomi and Cameron were told they were pulled from WrestleMania."
Meltzer also went on to note that the marketing of Total Divas leaves few in doubt of who the real stars of the show are meant to be: "They’ve been airing commercials for the show on all their programming. It’s clearly all about the Bella Twins, as in 90%. But even more than what I was told when the show was first announced, it’s very clear who the stars are."
So what do you guys think?
Will you be watching Total Divas when it airs? Or does a show based mainly around The Bella Twins turn most people off?
