The inaugural event for the UFC on Fox Sports 1 now has its first fight, with two welterweight knockout artists agreeing to meet on the August 17 card in Boston.

Fresh off a knockout win over highly touted prospect Jordan Mein at UFC on Fox 7 in April, Matt Brown will look to pick up his sixth win in a row when he returns for the UFC on Fox Sports 1 card in August.

Facing Brown on the card will be American Top Team fighter and former welterweight title contender Thiago Alves.

The two fighters have agreed to meet and verbal agreements are in place for the matchup, according to MMA Weekly, with bout agreements likely to be issued in the coming weeks.

Following an up-and-down start to his UFC career, which at one time included three losses in a row, former The Ultimate Fighter competitor Matt Brown has stormed the gates of the welterweight division in his past five fights.

The Ohio native has dominated his way to five consecutive victories, including four by TKO or knockout.  Most recently, Brown dispatched of former Strikeforce prodigy Jordan Mein by TKO during their meeting at UFC on Fox 7.

To get his sixth win in a row, Brown will have to go through former welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves, who looks to get back in action for the first time in more than a year.

It's been a strange time for the Brazilian heavy-hitter over the past couple of years after working his way to a title shot against Georges St-Pierre in 2009.

Since the loss to GSP, Alves has gone 2-3 overall, including a heartbreaking defeat in his last fight against Martin Kampmann in March 2012. After controlling the better part of the action for more than two rounds, Alves got caught in a guillotine choke submission from Kampmann late in the third round.

Following that fight, Alves was booked for his return at UFC 149 in July 2012 but tore his pectoral muscle in training and ended up on the surgeon's table instead of inside the Octagon.

Now finally at full health, Alves will look to get his career back on track when he returns at UFC on Fox Sports 1's debut card in August.

There has been no word on whether or not the proposed Brown vs. Alves fight will make the main card, but with Brown's current win streak and his opponent's constant standing as a top-10 welterweight throughout his career, it's likely they will end up as a featured bout on the card.
