The Players Championship has a new leader as the third round came to a halt.

David Lingmerth surged to the front after an eagle on the 16th hole and a gutsy birdie on the 17th.

The 25-year-old Swede will resume play tomorrow morning at the 18th tee with a two-stroke lead over Henrik Stenson, Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia. Lingmerth is 12-under par.

Jeff Maggert has posted the best round of the day, a 66, that moved the 49-year-old into a tie for fifth at 9-under with Hunter Mahan and Ryan Palmer.

The session was delayed for nearly two hours by rain and lightning. Another weather cell threatened to delay the round further, but it bypassed TPC Sawgrass.
