Like Wigan Athletic in England last weekend, Atletico Madrid upset the odds to win the Copa del Rey in dramatic circumstances at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It looked like business as usual when Cristiano Ronaldo headed Real Madrid into a first half lead, but Los Blancos had things far from their way, on a night where luck, in particularly, deserted them.
Diego Costa equalized before the break; Radamel Falcao instrumental in the build up.
Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo then preceded to hit the woodwork for Madrid, while Juanfran saved brilliantly on the line when Ozil looked certain to score.
Miranda's header, from a Koke corner, gave Atletico an extra time lead, before the focus switched to Thibaut Courtois -- the Belgian saving brilliantly from Gonzalo Higuain and Mesut Ozil.
There was still time for Cristiano Ronaldo and Gabi to get sent off, but not time for Madrid to find the goal that would have denied Atleti their historic night.
