UPDATE: Monday, May 20, 7:30 a.m. ET by Donald Wood
Despite one the most brutal looking finishes in recent history, John Cena refused to be taken to the hospital following the no contest finish in his WWE Championship defense against Ryback at Extreme Rules Sunday night, according to WWE.com.
Cena is one of the toughest competitors in professional sports, but the injuries likely sustained in this vicious brawl could play a role into his next match at Payback. If Ryback gets another shot at the title, Sunday's bout may have created the opening the challenger needs to take the title.
The WWE Universe should expect more updates on Cena’s injuries tonight on Raw.

Both of these men put it all on the line, with the match eventually ending in a no contest.
As for what was wrong with Cena, it appears as if he's sustained a neck injury. While the severity is unknown, Cena needed a neck brace as he was stretchered out.
A scary sight, to say the least.

After countless superstars have seen their careers cut short by neck injuries, one can't help but hope Cena will make a full recovery.
Superstars with notable neck injuries include Edge, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Hardcore Holly and Droz. The nature of these neck injuries varies with each wrestler, but all suffered similar fates as they simply could not recover from their respective neck ailments.
