Drew McIntyre Hints at Wanting His Old Gimmick Back
June 15, 2013
How the mighty have fallen.
Drew McIntyre, once tipped as "the future of the WWE" by Vince McMahon, now finds himself treading water in 3MB alongside Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal.
The Scot, who debuted to much fanfare in 2009 and became Intercontinental Champion soon after, has been demoted from a promising young star to part of a comedy heel troupe.
But for how much longer?
Earlier this week, Drew posted a rather cryptic tweet on his Twitter page:
The band rolls strong, but, some very astute views if one was to join Paul Heyman nobody makes more sense than a tossed Chosen One #revival
— Drew McIntyre (@TheDrewMcIntyre) June 13, 2013
To which Paul Heyman replied:
"RT: @TheDrewMcIntyre if one was to join Paul Heyman nobody makes more sense than a tossed Chosen One #revival" VERY INTERESTING!
— Paul Heyman (@HeymanHustle) June 14, 2013
My thoughts?
I reckon Drew has seen what Paul has done/is doing with Curtis Axel, and has decided enough is enough. "The Band" will not get him anywhere, whereas Heyman certainly could.
But in reality, this hint at a move back to the "Chosen One" gimmick is nothing more than that—a hint—a way to get people talking about him again.
Drew may deserve better than 3MB, but right now, that's all he's going to get.
And that's the bottom line, 'cos Colin Stone said so!
What do you think? Does Drew want out? Should he go back to his old gimmick? Sound off in the comments below or tweet me @Colin__Stone
