Russell Westbrook Proposes for Guy over Twitter, She Says Yes

For anyone who ever criticized Russell Westbrook's skills as a facilitator, get a load of this: The Oklahoma City Thunder guard just registered a massive assist by helping a fan propose to his girlfriend on Twitter.

It counts as an assist, by the way, because the play resulted in a score. She said yes.

From now on, whenever Westbrook jacks up a questionable shot off the dribble instead of finding Kevin Durant on the wing, his supporters will be able to point to the fact that this is a guy who clearly knows how to get people involved.

You hear that, Skip Bayless? Get off the guy's back. Oh, who am I kidding? Bayless will probably find a way to criticize this move, too. Perhaps he'll argue that Westbrook should have asked the girl to marry Durant.

That's what a true point guard would have done. Right, Skip?

If you think about it, this actually was some excellent point-guard play by Westbrook. He set up his man, put him in a position to be successful and let the play unfold. It's nice that he averaged 7.4 assists per game during the 2012-13 regular season, but this is probably more impressive.

The helping hand dovetailed perfectly with Westbrook's Why Not? Foundation, as it provided a nice opportunity to promote his favorite cause (via a hashtag) while doing a solid gesture for an OKC fan. Hopefully, the happy couple will repay the favor by decking out the groomsmen in Westbrook jerseys.

Let it never again be said that Westbrook doesn't know how to set people up.
