Appalachian State football will dance into the new season with new uniforms that will make every last one of its fans proud.
Here is an image from Reddit of three players showing off some of the various combinations, which make use of solid black and white without ever traipsing into the realm of muted or boring.
High Country Press has more information behind the new Nike uniforms unveiled at the Appalachian Athletics Center on Thursday.
It provides a thorough breakdown of each uniform combination you can expect to see this season: "black jerseys/black pants; white jerseys/white pants; black jerseys/white pants; white jerseys/black pants and an alternate grey jersey with black pants."
That's all well and good, but fans will no doubt need far more Yosef, the App State mascot, in their lives for the year.
Nike answers that call with the gray jerseys.
High Country Press' report states the popular logo will remain throughout the college's sports programs for one more year, so savor Yosef while you can.
The gray version seems to be the most adorned with sartorial trinkets. The back of the jersey will apparently feature the "Always Attack" motto in some form, and it will also be available for auction to fans following the season. So smash your piggy banks accordingly.
I have to say, I am sold on the entire swath of uniforms the program will use this year. In fact, I might even say they were...hot.
If you were curious as to the changes made, Lost Lettermen does a great job showing off the old and new jerseys while bringing our attention to the major differences.
The biggest item to note is the loss of all the piping around the shoulders and neck in previous iterations. I agree with Lost Lettermen that the overall effect is a more solid uniform that is far more cohesive throughout.
If you are looking for a more inspired and imposing look, dropping stripes and linings is always a good idea.
Of course, this will do little to affect the actual games being played in 2013, but the Mountaineers will sure look good no matter the score.
