Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze reeled in another coveted recruit on Friday afternoon, as the Rebels accepted a commitment from 247Sports composite 3-star quarterback Kendrick Doss.
John Talty of the Clarion-Ledger tweeted the news of Doss' commitment on Friday, alluding to the prospect's long list of offers, which included Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Nebraska.
Shortly after, Doss himself made the announcement with the Rebels' hashtag "#HottyToddy" on Twitter.
Freeze also sent out an interesting tweet around the time of Doss' commitment.
As stipulated by NCAA regulations, college coaches are not allowed to comment on the recruitment or commitment of high school players.
However, coaches will still often tweet out a vague message about their new commitment. Ole Miss is no different, as the Rebel staff has regularly used the phrase "Yahtzee."
Earlier this week, Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated, took a suggestion from a reader and wrote that, since Freeze often posts images of his latest catches, he should just post fishing pictures whenever he lands a new recruit (h/t Clarion-Ledger).
Apparently Freeze reads Staples' work, as the Ole Miss head coach tweeted a picture of himself and his daughter holding a fish, with the tweet denoting that he "caught a quick agile one today."
Doss certainly fits that description, as the Florence native carved up Alabama high school defenses for 1,202 yards and 21 touchdowns last season while also throwing for 1,734 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Doss is the lone quarterback in the 2014 class for Ole Miss, but he joins a strong group of offensive playmakers in the Rebel class, including composite 4-star all-purpose back D.K. Buford and composite 3-star receiver Dayall Harris.
The landing of Doss caps off a red-hot month of June which has brought Ole Miss eight new commitments.
As the summer rolls along, the Rebels aren't likely finished either. As Freeze included at the end of his tweet, "They are still biting".
