Led by head coach Jim Mora, UCLA has become one of the hottest programs in college football, and that has translated to recruiting. The latest example of that is the Bruins' newest commitment, 4-star wide receiver Austin Roberts.

According to a report from Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.com, Roberts has committed to UCLA, choosing the Bruins over Alabama, Miami and Ohio State in the process:

“I sat down with my family and talked pros and cons of all the schools and we decided that UCLA is the best option for me to continue my educational and athletic career,” Roberts said.

It took Roberts less than a week to pull the trigger for the Bruins, as Jim Mora and his coaching staff extended the scholarship offer last Thursday. Before giving his word to UCLA, Roberts considered offers from his other finalists, Alabama, Miami and Ohio State. Roberts’s father Alfredo played for the Hurricanes and is now an assistant coach with the Indianapolis Colts.

Roberts represents a major commitment for UCLA. He's the No. 27 wide receiver according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and he checks in at 6'2'', 211 pounds. Roberts also runs a 4.51 40, per 247Sports.

UCLA's 2014 class only features five commitments with Roberts in the fold, but at the moment, the Bruins have to be feeling good about quality versus quantity.

The wide receiver position for UCLA is absolutely stacked. Roberts is the Bruins' fourth wideout commitment, joining 3-stars Barry Ware, Dionte Sykes and Jordan Lasley.

Jermaine Eluemunor, 4-star JUCO offensive tackle, is UCLA's other commitment. Eluemunor is the No. 2 JUCO offensive tackle, according to the 247Sports composite. The 6'6'' 300-pounder has star potential as an offensive tackle.

There are many factors that go into a recruit's decision, but Roberts choosing UCLA over the likes of 'Bama, Miami and OSU goes to show you that the Bruins are indeed on the rise.

UCLA is high on the interest lists of a few marquee recruits, including but not limited to, 5-star wide receiver Malachi Dupre, 5-star defensive end Solomon Thomas, 4-star athlete Budda Baker, 4-star defensive end Malik Dorton and 4-star guard Demetrius Knox

If UCLA can live up to the on-field expectations in 2013 and contend for the Pac-12 crown, there's a good chance that momentum will carry over onto the recruiting trail.

It certainly did last cycle, and things are once again setting up nicely.

Roberts is a big commitment, but there will be more to come for UCLA.
