Braves vs. Mets Video: Watch Jason Heyward's Incredible Game-Ending Catch
July 23, 2013
Jason Heyward was again the center of attention Monday night.
The Braves were leading the New York Mets, 2-1, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and runners on first and second. Keep in mind, the Braves had just taken the lead in the top half of the inning.
Mets infielder Justin Turner hit a shot to left-center field only to see Heyward make a spectacular diving catch on the turf at Cit Field.
The full video of his incredible catch can be seen at MLB.com.
The catch not only saved the game for the Braves, but it also extended the Braves' lead to seven games in the NL East over the Phillies.
What makes it even more amazing is the fact that Heyward wasn't playing in his normal position of right field due to B.J. Upton's recent trip to the disabled list.
Naturally, the Twittersphere reacted:
Heyward himself was back in the starting lineup for the first time since a July 11 injury sliding into third base.
Braves beat writer Mark Bowman provided us with the following reactions from Heyward and left fielder Reed Johnson on the catch:
