In the second event of the illustrious Canadian horse racing Triple Crown, the 2013 Prince of Wales Stakes from Fort Erie Racetrack will take place on Tuesday, July 30th this season, as opposed to its customary Sunday running.

According to Kris Dube of the Niagara Falls Review, the second leg of the Triple Crown has been held at this track since 1959, and it has been run on a Sunday each year. This will be the first time the tradition is broken.

With track staff and event organizers trying to make the most possible money off the betting on the marquee event, changing the date to a Tuesday to minimize competition is a smart plan.

As the only big race this Tuesday, bettors across the world will be focused on the Prince of Wales Stakes. Horse racing fans will not want to miss this one-of-a-kind race now run on a Tuesday night.

Winner: Uncaptured

Despite winning the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, Queen’s Plate winner Midnight Aria will not partake in Tuesday’s second leg. That leaves the door wide open for Uncaptured to steal the show and take home a victory.

Uncaptured has not raced since June 15 (finished second at the Matt Winn Stakes from Churchill Downs), but the experience of running on dirt will give the fresh runner the inside lane at Fort Erie Racetrack.

Add in the No. 1 post position for the John C. Oxley-trained horse, and Uncaptured is a smart bet on Tuesday.

Place: Dynamic Sky

After finishing in third place in the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, Dynamic Sky is the best finishing horse from the Queen’s Plate to make the transition to the Prince of Wales Stakes.

Dynamic Sky won the trial for the Queen’s Plate in early June, but was unable to translate that to a victory on race day.

With a chip on the shoulder of everyone on the Dynamic Sky team—horse, jockey, trainer and everyone else that makes the team so strong—Fort Erie Racetrack is a great place to find redemption.

Show: Power Phil

The biggest underdog in this field is also one of the best bets to stun everyone Tuesday and give the bettors a huge payday: Power Phil.

The three-year-old colt is one of the fastest horses in this field. Despite not racing in the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, Power Phil has serious momentum on his side thus far in his career.

Power Phil has finished in the top three in every race he has ever entered. Those looking to place a wager on Tuesday would be wise to look toward the Frank D. Di Giulio-trained colt.
