Malcolm Mitchell Injury: Updates on Georgia WR's Knee, Potential Return Date

The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 8 Clemson Tigers put on quite a show in their season-opening clash. Unfortunately, Georgia's potent offense lost one of their most critical players, as wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell went down with a knee injury.

 

Mitchell was held out for the remainder of the game against the Tigers, according to John Taylor of NBC Sports.

Late in the first quarter, wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell suffered what appeared to be an injury to his right knee.  With an ice bag wrapped around the area, ESPN on its broadcast that Mitchell will not return for the remainder of the game.

 Mark Richt later confirmed that Mitchell tore his ACL and will miss the season. He underwent surgery and is expected to be ready for the 2014 season.
