Aaron Murray is off to a good start in his senior season.  In fact, he’s on pace for the best statistical year of his storied career.

But where does he stack up relative to the best quarterbacks in Southeastern Conference history?

    Here's a progress report on Murray's record-setting pursuits.

Single-Season Passing Yards

Thus far, Murray has thrown for an average of 316 yards per game in 2013.  If Georgia wins the SEC East and Murray plays in all 14 games (12 regular-season games plus the SEC Championship Game and a Bowl), his current average would yield 4,424 passing yards.  That would surpass the previous SEC record (4,275) held by Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch.

    When will the record fall?

Murray could set this record in January during the final game of his career.

Career Touchdown Passes

Murray already holds the Georgia record with 99 career touchdown passes.  David Greene places second on that list with 72.

Former Florida Gator and Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel holds the conference record for touchdown passes with 114.

    When will the record fall?

Georgia plays Vanderbilt on October 19th in Nashville, Tenn.  Murray will surpass Wuerffel’s mark on that day—Georgia’s seventh game of the season.  At that point, he will have thrown 20 touchdown passes on the season.

Career Passing Yards

Murray’s 10,723 passing yards trail Greene’s Bulldog and SEC career-record mark of 11,528.

Murray has thrown for 632 yards in his first two games this season, so the deficit of 805 yards certainly seems conquerable.

    When will the record fall?

Murray will set the SEC record for passing yards on October 5th against Tennessee in Knoxville.

Career Completions

Florida quarterback Chris Leak set the SEC record for career pass completions a few years back with a total of 895.

    Murray has completed 733 passes.

    When will the record fall?

Murray will set this record on November 30th against Georgia Tech in the last regular-season game of his career.

Florida legend Tim Tebow holds the conference record for total offense with 12,232 yards.  With 10 regular-season games remaining this season, Murray has accounted for 10,899 yards of total offense.

    When will the record fall?

Murray will set this record in front of a home crowd on October 12th against the Missouri Tigers.
